Gyo^gi (668-749), a monk from the Japanese Hosso^ sect 法相宗, who is recorded as being the descendant of a Korean king. In 685, he entered the Yakushi-ji 药师寺 in Nara, where he studied under Eki, Do^sho and Gien 义渊. He later traveled to various areas in Japan, devoting himself to social work and the establishment of temples. He is said to have assisted in the construction of To^daiji 东大寺.
