法身


(dharmaka^ya). 'reality body', 'truth body.' (1) In Sarva^stiva^din有部 teaching, the correct teaching of the Buddha, or the meritorious dharma of the ten powers. A collection of dharmas. (2) In general Maha^ya^na teaching, the 'reality-body' is a name for absolute existence, the manifestation of all existences. The true body of reality. Buddha as eternal principle. The body of essence that is pure, possesses no marks of distinction, and is the same as emptiness. (3) One of the three bodies 三身 of the Buddha. The Buddha's body of the universe-the body of truth that lacks form. The basis of all things. (4) The Dharma (teaching) as body, as opposed to the physical body of the Buddha.
