Vasubandhu; also translated as T'ien-ch'in 天亲. Transliterated as p'o-p'an-tou 婆槃豆. Along with his brother Asan%ga 无著， one of the main founders of the Indian Yoga^ca^ra school 瑜伽行派， and one of the most influential figures in the entire history of Buddhism. Born in Gandha^ra in the fourth century， he was at first an Abhidharmist and wrote the massive Abhidharmako/sa-bha^sya 俱舍论. He later converted to Maha^ya^na and composed many other voluminous treatises. Most influential in the East Asian tradition was probably his Thirty Verses on Consciousness-only （Weishi sanshisong 唯识三十颂）， but he also wrote a large number of other works， including: a commentary to the Maha^ya^na-sam!graha 摄大乘论释， the Dasabhu^mikabha^sya 十地经论， Catuh/sataka-/sa^stra 广百论， Maha^ya^na /satadharma^-praka^/samukha /sa^stra 大乘百法明门论， Amita^yus sutropade/sa 无量寿经优波提舍， and his Discourse on the Pure Land （Jingtulun 净土论）.
