(1) The three good roots of 'not coveting' (wutan 无贪), no anger (wuchen 无嗔) and no delusion (wuchi 无癡). So called because they are considered to be the basic mental functions of goodness. According to the Yoga^ca^ra school 瑜伽行派, all good elements are produced from these three. (2) 'Giving' (施), 'compassion' (慈) and 'wisdom' (慧). As opposed to the 'three poisons' (sandu 三毒).
